A Bat Walk around Leavesden Country Park

Meet us at Leavesden HIVE for a chat about bats and a quick refreshment before heading out into the park with the bat detectors to discover these magical mammals of the night in their habitat.

We will have bat detectors for you to use and the Park Ranger will be on hand to help identify the bats that we see and explain their important role in the biodiversity of our green spaces.

Beginners Running

Taking up running can seem like a scary prospect, especially if you feel out of shape or unfit. Aimed at beginners our learn to run course is the perfect way to start.

Whether you've never run before or if you just want to get more active, running is an easy way of getting fitter and healthier. You will follow a similar programme to couch to 5k programme with the help of a qualified instructor who will guide you each week. You will mix walking with running each week creating realistic expectations and making the challenge feel achievable right from the start. This builds up week on week to get you up to jogging 5k after eight weeks.

Butterfly Walk

Croxley Skate Camps

Skate lessons for children over 5 will be running this Summer holiday at Croxley Skate Park  providing young people the opportunity to come and learn how to skateboard.

Skateboard and safety equipment provided. Sessions will be cancelled if it’s raining or if the skate park is very wet.

Get Set Sail

We aim to give people with a disability, their families and carers the opportunity to enjoy a safe and pleasurable experience of sailing at Bury lake.

It’s the perfect way to feel tranquility and freedom on the water.

Each boat and katakanu are specially designed to help support those with a disability and the CVSS offer full assistance with getting in and out of the boats and full sailing safety to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.

You will sail with a CVSS sailing buddy. A hoist is available on request.

Swimming After Stroke

Swimming after a Stroke is an opportunity to participate in specific water therapy exercises and practice your swimming with fellow stroke survivors. The classes are instructed by a fully qualified swimming and aquatic therapy instructor in a relaxed atmosphere.

The therapeutic properties of the water help to support the body by using the buoyancy and resistance of the water to move your body and build your muscular strength. The aim is to improve quality of your body’s movement and improve your strength and balance.

Wild Flower Nordic Walk

Our local park ranger, Damien Weller, will guide you on this gentle paced walk and share knowledge of the natural world.

The walk will be at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops to identify, admire and of course photograph our local wildflowers. 

If you need to hire poles, please let us know in advance and there is a £2 hire charge to the walk leader on the day. Pole hire subject to availability.

 

*Please note you need to have completed a Learn to Nordic Walk course/have a Freedom card to be eligible book on the walk

Go wild on our ‘safari’ through the park. 

We’ll discover lots of wildlife in and around our lakes. 

The Park Ranger will share details about reptiles, birds and other wildlife found at the Aquadrome.
